We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Vice President of Design and Construction. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and construction of our data centers, playing a pivotal role in bolstering our capabilities and driving the growth of our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in data center design, construction, and project management, with a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the design and construction of our data centers, aligning with the company's growth objectives and operational needs.
  • Lead the design and co-development efforts for new data center projects, leveraging your expertise to optimize performance, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation in our data center infrastructure.
  • Oversee all aspects of data center construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Manage a portfolio of construction projects, including both colocation facilities and in-house constructions, while prioritizing resources and mitigating risks.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, and vendors to drive project success and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on mechanical and electrical engineering principles as they relate to data center design and construction.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations governing data center construction, including environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize data center performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of design and construction professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and development opportunities to team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential and contribute to the success of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 15-20 years of experience in data center design, construction, and project management, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing large-scale data center construction projects, including colocation facilities and in-house constructions.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems as they pertain to data center infrastructure, with a focus on optimizing performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to data center construction and operations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and drive innovation in data center design and construction.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000-$225,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Hybrid Workplace

Successful candidates will be expected to attend onboarding training at our NJ Headquarters within their first several weeks of employment, with subsequent quarterly travel requirements of 1 week duration.
