Job Description

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role 

In this newly created role, you will assist with the establishment and ongoing operation of our Digital testing practice, and will play a key part in the setup and strategy of test Automation solutions across our Enterprise.

As the Lead Test Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our systems and processes, developing frameworks, supporting our testing teams and delivering testing solutions with an automation first mindset.

Day to day, this includes:

  • Coaching and mentoring a small team of Testers, maintaining and disseminating standards, frameworks and best practices, running practice sessions and representing the practice at appropriate business and governance forums
  • Test Case Creation and Execution
  • Automation Development, Execution and Reporting
  • Continuous Improvement and Collaboration:
  • Continuously improve test processes and automation efficiency.
  • Explore new tools, frameworks, and techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate progress, issues, and challenges effectively.
  • Provide quality feedback to Product Owners and other stakeholders on testing issues, progress and lessons learned, including suggested improvements for the future
  • Collaborating with others to define acceptance criteria and providing feedback around validity and feasibility 

Qualifications

Tā mātou e kimi nei? - What are we looking for?   

Success in this role will come from your passion for testing, automation and ensuring quality outcomes, while contributing to our digital strategy and delivery roadmaps for automated testing while supporting and coaching our wider testing teams.

You will be someone who pays attention to the details and is passionate about the fundamentals of software testing. You will be a person that enjoys working with people and revels in finding and investigating issues and have a true eye for detail, working easily between design and development.

You will be someone who is systematic by nature, structuring your approach to testing so that no items are missed, and all considerations are made.

We would like to hear from you if you have:  

  • Demonstrable experience in test analysis
  • Experience with UiPath and the Test Automation Suite preferred
  • Experience with web and mobile apps automation testing tools (e.g., Detox, Playwright)
  • Experience with Javascript, Python and other programming languages
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven experience in functional testing, test case design, test management, execution tracking, defect tracking and maintaining traceability
  • Experience with testing of complex solutions across multiple platforms including Web, mobile apps
  • Knowledge of software development and Agile methodology
  • Experience in test techniques and coding
  • Ability to write test reports and technical assessments
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Efficient planning skills and an ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Experience with bug tracking and documentation tools, ie: Jira and confluence
  • Willing to develop skills with a range of automated testing technologies including User Interface, API integration testing, web interface as well as mobile testing frameworks
  • Comprehensive understanding of application architecture (Standalone and Multitier)
  • Experience with code version control tools (Git) and setting up the environment for automation code to integrate with CI/CD environment

We're more interested in your skillset than your location, so we support our people to work how, where and when works the best. Most of the Digital team are based in Auckland & Wellington, so that would be the place to be if you enjoy regular in-person team time, however this role can be fully remote, and we’re open to applications from all over Aotearoa.
