Job Summary
The Dev Ops Engineer 5 is responsible for participating as a technical expert providing advanced knowledge in vendor devices and management systems as it relates to firmware deployment, configuration change, configuration drift, and security compliance. Plans and directs development teams, troubleshoots internal application and development issues, providing technical solutions for network engineering and operational problems. Contributes to new application and tool implementation, implements new applications, tools and provides overall upkeep and maintenance of existing and new applications used by the Network Engineering and partner teams. Applies expert development methodologies, to develop secure and robust applications. Interfaces with vendors, engineering and peer operations organizations. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies and procedures. Provides technical leadership to Network Engineers and the CIEC Development team.The role will be virtual within the U.S. with up to 15% anticipated annual travel.

Core Responsibilities
- Drives issues through closure engaging all appropriate resources. Leads technical bridges and provides troubleshooting direction. Functions with great autonomy and independently provides guidance and recommended solutions to complex technical issues within and outside the department.
- Acts as the subject matter expert for application development design as it relates to networking, various network devices, management systems as it relates to design, monitoring, configuration management and monitoring. Vendors include Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet, Cradlepoint and others.
- Extensive knowledge in working in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS and others.
- Skilled in scripting, with extensive knowledge in Python, Java, Perl or Ruby.
- Provides input to engineering and vendors on defects and required enhancements. Provides consultative direction and develops long-term objectives and plans. Determines resources, technology and course of action to achieve results.
- Performs complex and routine maintenance tests in the lower environment for designated areas of development. Identifies and isolate issues. Ensures that all software is properly validated to minimize customer impact, both internal and external impact to (ideally) zero.
- Plans and directs multiple projects, often spanning different development disciplines within the organization, to develop strategies, proposals and communications plans.
- Leads the integration of applications into engineering including instrumentation, automation, standardization and methods/procedures. Applies expert development methodologies in one or more development areas.
- Serves as internal expert within department relative to the most complex development problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
- Demonstrates the ability to present complex development solutions and architectural designs to diverse audiences, including technical teams, executive stakeholders, and industry analysts.
- Provides functional, team and program leadership on a regular basis on multiple projects, spanning different development disciplines within the organization. Takes the lead on developing new applications, tools and concepts.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
