Coinbase’s Ecosystem Monitoring compliance team is on the front lines of the financial revolution, leveraging domain knowledge, investigative techniques, and data to assess and track compliance-based risks within onchain ecosystems. You’ll take on compliance reviews of assets and protocols, perform diligence on project teams and product use cases, and use your investigative skills to identify onchain addresses

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Research blockchains, protocols, digital assets, and products within the crypto ecosystem;
• Perform due diligence on UBOs, founders, and project teams;
• Evaluate a range of risks through a compliance framework;se open source research, blockchain forensics, and other resources to evaluate onchain data and identify addresses;
• Conduct ad hoc research projects as needed;
• Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

• 5+ years of experience in research, investigations, and/or due diligence;
• Working knowledge of blockchains, protocols, and digital assets;
• Familiarity with institutional participants in digital asset markets (VCs, market makers, OTC desks, etc.);
• OSINT expertise and an investigative mentality;
• Ability to handle highly sensitive information;
• Effective interpersonal and time management skills;
• Excellent writing, analytical and communication abilities;
• Ability to grasp new systems and concepts quickly;
• Foundational knowledge of banking laws, rules, and regulations including BSA/AML regs, OFAC requirements and consumer protections regulations;
• B.A./B.S. degree or higher.

Nice to haves:

• Experience working at a cryptocurrency or financial technology company;
• Experience working with blockchain forensic tools (TRM, Chainalysis, Elliptic, etc.);
• Experience or interest in process improvement and documentation.
