About the Role

The Program Associate for GETI Latin America is a full-time, embedded member of the GETI team, providing sustained and consistent support to the program's work across the three focus countries in the region: Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. Unlike project-based work, this role requires ongoing presence, relationship continuity, and day-to-day engagement across grantees, stakeholders, and internal teams. The Program Associate reports directly to the Associate Director of GETI Latin America and plays a key operational and analytical role within the team.

Department Summary

The Programs department leads ClimateWorks’ strategies and grantmaking to advance climate solutions around the world. The team works alongside funders, regional grantmakers, field experts, and frontline leaders to design, implement, and steward high-impact grantmaking portfolios across sectors. Focus areas include renewable energy, industrial decarbonization, electric transport, sustainable finance, adaptation and resilience, and more. Grounded in data, local context, and field expertise, program teams identify emerging opportunities, scale solutions, and equip partners with the evidence and capacity needed to drive transformative climate progress. Through strategic grantmaking and trusted relationships, the Programs department supports ClimateWorks’ efforts to catalyze durable, scalable change.

How you will contribute

Strategic & Operational Work

  • Ensure GETI country strategies are regularly updated and effectively implemented by tracking grantee activities, assessing portfolio progress, and supporting smooth execution across programs.
  • Deliver weekly updates on Latin America to the global GETI team, synthesizing key
  • Support coordination across Latin America by aligning activities among partners and teams, fostering collaboration, and organizing internal coordination meetings.
  • Support administrative and operational processes in Salesforce and related systems to ensure effective program management and reporting.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of convenings, workshops and stakeholder engagements, both virtual and in-person.
  • Develop internal and external communication materials, including strategic summaries, presentations, briefings and knowledge products.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support GETI in strengthening partnerships with funders, grantees, and key stakeholders across Latin America, with a focus on Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
  • Identify and deliver proactive support to grantees, including strategic advice, partnership-building, and program coordination.
  • Identify and engage with new civil society, government, and private sector actors aligned with the energy transition agenda.
  • Represent GETI at strategic convenings, working groups, and events across the region.

Grantee Portfolio Management

  • Support the Associate Director in managing the regional portfolio, monitoring workplans, milestones, and deliverables, flagging risks and supporting course correction as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with grantees, tracking progress and identifying opportunities for strategic support and connections across the network.
  • Map key actors and organizations across Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico to build a pipeline of prospective partners aligned with GETI's objectives.
  • Conduct due diligence on prospective grantees (organizational capacity, strategic fit, impact potential) and translate findings into funding recommendations.
  • Support the design of new grants, including workplan development and milestone-setting with incoming grantees.
  • Produce briefing notes on political, economic, and sectoral developments relevant to energy transition across the region.

Knowledge Management & Regional Learning

  • Maintain an organized, up-to-date repository of regional intelligence including policy developments and funding landscape to support strategic decision-making across the portfolio.
  • Support the design and tracking of success stories, KPIs and impact indicators for grants, ensuring grantee work is tied to measurable outcomes and contributing to a coherent theory of change across the regional portfolio.
  • Synthesize insights from grantee work and stakeholder engagement into internal learning products, including strategic memos, case studies, and regional briefings for the global GETI team.
  • Document lessons learned from program implementation across Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, translating Latin American dynamics into actionable insights

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in energy, environment, public policy, international development, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in climate, energy, philanthropy, policy, or a related area.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English; Spanish a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with or within civil society, government, or philanthropic organizations in Latin America.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively (both virtually and in person) with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed team.
  • Ability to communicate the success stories and impact of the work.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of ClimateWorks Foundation.

Location

This is a full-time remote job with expectations for frequent travel. Must be based in Brazil, Colombia or Mexico. Preferably Brazil.

Compensation

International salary range to be determined based on the location and local cost of labor.

Compensation is intentionally structured to be above leading local market averages and appropriate to the regional cost of labor.
