CLARK's journey began in June 2015, born from a vision to fundamentally reshape the insurance landscape. Founded in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, by Dr. Christopher Oster, Steffen Glomb, Dr. Marco Adelt, and Chris Lodde, the company set out to tackle a market largely untouched by the digital revolution. At the time, an estimated 95% of insurance business in Germany was still conducted offline. This presented a significant opportunity for a tech-driven solution. The founders recognized that while older generations often relied on traditional insurance representatives, younger demographics were increasingly turning to digital services for their needs. Their core idea was to create a digital insurance manager that would empower consumers to easily manage, compare, and optimize their insurance policies.

The initial spark for CLARK grew from co-founder Christopher Oster's determination to forge his own path after completing his PhD, rather than pursuing a conventional career in management consultancy. After extensive research, he identified the insurance sector's digital gap and meticulously assembled his founding team. The company's early development was supported by an initial round of seed capital from Finleap, a Berlin-based company specializing in nurturing fintech and insurtech startups. This foundational support was crucial in getting CLARK off the ground. The company launched its app, providing users with a comprehensive analysis of their insurance situation and enabling them to compare offers from a wide array of over 160 insurance companies. This approach aimed to bring transparency and simplicity to a traditionally complex and often opaque industry. Over the years, CLARK has expanded its reach and services, driven by a commitment to making insurance more accessible and user-friendly for everyone. The company has grown significantly, not only in customer numbers but also in its operational footprint, establishing itself as a key player in the European insurtech scene. This growth has been fueled by further funding rounds and strategic acquisitions, solidifying CLARK's position as an innovator in the digital insurance space.
