The story of CircuitHub began with a frustration familiar to many hardware engineers: the gap between the speed of software development and the sluggishness of hardware manufacturing. Founded in 2011 by Andrew Seddon, the company emerged from a desire to make building electronics as seamless and agile as writing code. Seddon, who had previously worked in robotics and computer vision, found the traditional process of moving a prototype into production to be a nightmare of logistics, opaque pricing, and slow turnaround times. He envisioned a future where a 'Fabricate' button could exist for hardware, just as a 'Compile' button exists for software.

To realize this vision, CircuitHub built the first automated electronics factory designed around a modern tech stack. By abstracting the complex web of logistics, component sourcing, and factory operations into a user-friendly web application, they created a platform that offers instant quotes and rapid manufacturing. Backed by top-tier investors including Y Combinator and Google Ventures, CircuitHub has grown from a bold idea into a global operation with facilities in Massachusetts and London. Today, their platform, often referred to as 'The Grid,' empowers hardware companies—from startups to those building self-driving cars and satellites—to scale from a single prototype to thousands of units with unprecedented speed and reliability.
