The Communications and Marketing Manager will lead project management efforts for external communications activities in support of brand awareness, positioning, advocacy and philanthropy, while providing for consistency in organizational image and brand. Overall, the Communications and Marketing Manager contributes to the CHS high-performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Essential Job Functions

1. Position CHS through active and appropriate communications initiatives.

  • Develop and oversee the adherence to process efficiencies for philanthropy-focused communications including but not limited to direct mail appeals, the annual report, videos and digital communications.
  • Participate in development of, review, promote integration of and help evaluate statewide mail and electronic appeals.
  • Coordinate, write, edit, produce and distribute print and electronic communication pieces for the Philanthropy department, executives and other departments as needed.
  • Manage communications efforts for fundraising events.
  • Manage mass stewardship initiatives for donors, volunteers and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead communications efforts in support of major statewide and local fundraising campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain statewide publications and communications calendar(s).
  • Manage relationships with external vendors.
  • Evaluate and recommend marketing and promotional opportunities that can advance philanthropy, advocacy and/or organizational initiatives.
  • Manage production and distribution of videos for statewide and local promotional, advocacy and fundraising use.
  • Manage the CHS website.
  • Lead the development and distribution of blogs and other digital content strategies to advance philanthropy and public policy support.
  • Tell the story of CHS and clients served through various platforms to inspire involvement with and support of the CHS mission.
  • Coordinate across departments to verify externally facing materials, information sources, etc. are up to date and disseminated appropriately.
  • Provide support to create and edit organization-wide communication.
  • Oversee training and support for Communications and Philanthropy staff relative to the website and e-communication platforms.
  • Identify and implement Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics to drive traffic to the CHS website for philanthropy, advocacy and organizational initiatives.
  • Manage brand consistency and integrity.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies to advance CHS’ position within the legislative arena.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies and materials to advance organizational advocacy priorities.

2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.

  • Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
  • Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.
  • Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
  • Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
  • Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.

Job Qualifications

Education, Certifications and Licenses

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field, from an accredited university, required.
  • Florida Driver's License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required.

Experience

  • Three to five years progressive experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, required.
  • Three years experience writing for print, broadcast, or electronic media, preferred.
  • Two years experience using and training on content management systems and mass e-mail tools, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of

Graphic design and presentation software, such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite

Skills and proficiency in:

  • Oral and written communication, including presentation and platform
  • Collaboration and teamwork, consulting and facilitation, coaching and mentoring
  • Computer systems and MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, organization

Ability to:

  • Commit to providing high customer satisfaction with positive service delivery results.
  • Be energetic, passionate and adaptable with a deep commitment to social service, empathy for children and families and a positive approach to embracing and managing change.
  • Perform at a high level of autonomy, with general supervision.

Schedule Expectations

While this position is remote, all applicants must reside in the state of Florida for consideration. The incumbent will work a standard scheduled week, which may include weekends, holidays and evenings. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, incumbent will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours. Travel will be on an as-needed basis to conduct CHS business-related activities.
