BridgePhase is a mission-focused technology company that designs, builds, secures, and operates modern digital solutions that drive national security, government efficiency, and mission success across the Federal Government. We empower agencies to achieve meaningful outcomes through high-performing software engineering, cloud, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, AI/ML, and platform modernization solutions delivered by collaborative teams focused on innovation, adaptability, and operational excellence. As a trusted partner, BridgePhase helps Federal organizations modernize critical systems, accelerate delivery, and achieve lasting mission impact.

Position Overview:

BridgePhase is seeking an experienced, self-driven DevOps Engineer to support the operation, security, and continued optimization of enterprise cloud infrastructure and platform services within a FedRAMP-authorized Federal environment. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, performance, and compliance of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) services while supporting platform governance, incident management, system upgrades, and ongoing operational improvements.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with SAP BTP or comparable large-scale enterprise cloud platforms, along with a solid understanding of cloud-native technologies, platform security, and service lifecycle management. This role requires a proactive technical leader who can take ownership of complex platform environments, troubleshoot critical issues, collaborate across engineering and security teams, and drive operational excellence in a highly regulated environment.

This position requires candidates to be U.S. citizens who hold no additional citizenship. This is a fully remote role with the potential for conversion to a permanent position after one year. The interview process includes an initial Microsoft Teams interview followed by an onsite interview in Herndon, VA. Participation in an on-call rotation to support production services is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day operations, reliability, availability, and performance of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) services across multiple environments within a FedRAMP-authorized cloud infrastructure.
  • Serve as a primary technical resource and escalation point for platform operations, ensuring service continuity, security, and compliance with federal requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive visibility into BTP services, subaccounts, directories, entitlements, global account configurations, and platform dependencies.
  • Establish and enforce operational standards, configuration baselines, change management procedures, and governance policies aligned with federal security and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor platform health, service availability, performance metrics, integration throughput, and error rates using approved monitoring and observability tools.
  • Manage service-level agreements (SLAs), proactively identify operational risks, and implement solutions to maintain platform reliability and minimize service disruptions.
  • Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for platform outages, service degradations, and complex integration issues, coordinating remediation efforts across technical teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly validate business continuity and disaster recovery plans, operational runbooks, and incident response procedures for critical platform services.
  • Plan, coordinate, test, and execute platform upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities in alignment with SAP release schedules and federal change control requirements.
  • Evaluate SAP security advisories, release notes, and patch updates to identify vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation, and ensure platform configurations remain secure and compliant.
  • Coordinate pre-production validation, regression testing, and deployment readiness activities to minimize operational risks associated with platform changes.
  • Operate and maintain platform extensions, ensuring proper configuration, access controls, monitoring, performance, and compliance with approved security baselines.
  • Support cloud-native platform services and integrations involving Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, APIs, identity management, and enterprise service dependencies.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), Compliance, Engineering, and Business teams to align platform operations with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in change advisory boards, incident reviews, and operational governance activities while communicating service health, technical risks, upcoming upgrades, and compliance status to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and best practices while providing guidance and mentorship to other platform engineers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production services, respond to critical incidents, and ensure timely resolution of operational issues.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience operating SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) across multiple service categories and environments, or comparable large-scale enterprise cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting cloud infrastructure and platform services within a FedRAMP-authorized or equivalent federally secured environment.
  • Experience managing highly scalable, enterprise-level, multi-tenant, microservices-based platforms and services.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, including Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes fundamentals, and enterprise platform operations.
  • Experience managing platform security, identity and access management, configuration baselines, and compliance documentation.
  • Knowledge of SAP BTP security and identity services, including XSUAA, Identity Authentication Service (IAS), role collections, trust configurations, and access reviews.
  • Experience with enterprise IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including incident management, change management, problem management, and change advisory board procedures.
  • Familiarity with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow or comparable enterprise service management tools.
  • Proven experience owning production services, managing service-level agreements, monitoring platform performance, and leading incident response and resolution activities.
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including API routing, service endpoints, encryption in transit, and cloud connectivity.
  • Understanding of identity federation, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and zero-trust security principles within cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native service operations, API governance, event-driven architectures, and service dependency management.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to support platform availability and operational performance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills with the ability to independently investigate complex platform configurations, service failures, and integration issues.
  • Experience supporting platform upgrades, patch management, release coordination, and production change control processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear technical documentation, operational runbooks, and status reports.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, respond effectively to critical incidents, and work independently in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting production platform services.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and hold only U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP BTP certifications, such as SAP Certified Associate in SAP Business Technology Platform or SAP Integration Suite.
  • Previous experience serving as a technical service owner, platform lead, or senior engineer with responsibility for enterprise platform operations.
  • Advanced experience administering and governing SAP BTP services within complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting regulated Federal Government or national security environments with strict security and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of federal cloud security frameworks, compliance controls, and operational governance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical team members, lead operational improvements, and establish scalable platform management practices.

As with any dynamic technical environment, responsibilities will evolve based on customer and mission needs. We are looking for individuals who are adaptable, proactive, and eager to take ownership of new challenges as they arise.
