Head of Mechanical Engineering

We are searching for Head of Mechanical Engineering, focused on mechanical design and simulation to join our innovative team as new #bloqstars. This role will lead two teams of talented mechanical designers and simulation engineers to develop, enhance, and maintain our cutting-edge smart locker solutions on several fronts of our Solution.

What will be your responsibilities

• Set clear team and individual objectives, and provide ongoing performance feedback and development;
• Build and empower a team to deliver creative, thorough, and practical solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems;
• Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards;
• Collaborate with the Head of IoT, Head of Industrialization and Project Managers to align our engineering efforts with business goals;
• Focus on the professional and personal growth of your team, including conducting performance and compensation reviews;
• Create and deploy an holistic strategy of all areas that involve mechanical design, structural simulation and thermal simulation of our hardware products;
• You will report directly to our VP of Hardware Engineering.

What are the requirements to join us in this position

• Proven experience as an engineering manager or similar leadership role in a technology-driven environment;
• First hand experience as a mechanical designer or simulation engineer;
• Have experience in leading teams developing hardware products from early concepts up to series production;
• Expertise with the best principles, practices, and standards in the industry, to develop Mechanical Design, Structural Simulation and Thermal Simulation;
• Experience in coordinating or being involved in FMEA, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly and Design to Cost processes;
• Have experience building team & hiring new team members;
• Excellent leadership, communication (written and spoken in English), and interpersonal skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior management and product teams;
• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and learning;
• Experience in leading teams working on large-scale products;

Extra valued skills

• Experience in products combining both hardware and software;
• Experience in growing Scale-ups, from being an early Engineer to 100+ people team;
• Experience in B2B enterprise products;
