The story of Baptist Health System began in 1903, when a group of visionary physicians and business leaders in San Antonio, Texas, came together to address the community's growing need for medical care. What started as the humble Physicians' and Surgeons' Hospital has since evolved into a cornerstone of healthcare in South Texas. In 2003, Baptist Health System entered a new era of growth and modernization when it was acquired by Vanguard Health Systems, which was subsequently acquired by Tenet Healthcare in 2013. Today, Baptist Health System stands as a premier healthcare provider, comprising a network of acute-care hospitals, including Baptist Medical Center, Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital, Northeast Baptist Hospital, and St. Luke's Baptist Hospital.
