About Avantus
We are Avantus, a company born from a decade of leadership in the clean energy sector. Formerly known as 8minute Solar Energy, we rebranded in 2022 to better reflect our expanded vision and commitment to advancing a prosperous future for all through the advantages of clean energy. Since our founding in 2009 by Tom Buttgenbach and Martin Hermann, we have been at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution in the United States. Our journey began with a focus on developing utility-scale solar projects, and we quickly made our mark by developing one of the nation's largest solar clusters and, in 2016, delivering one of the first solar plants to provide energy at a lower cost than fossil fuels. This legacy of innovation and execution continues to drive us forward as we tackle the growing energy demands of our nation.
Today, our mission extends beyond just solar development. We are creating an advanced ecosystem of clean energy products and services, integrating cutting-edge energy storage solutions to provide reliable, affordable, and zero-emission power day and night. We are proud to be developing one of the largest portfolios of smart power plants with integrated storage, capable of powering millions of homes and businesses across the Western U.S. Our team of dedicated and talented individuals is our greatest asset. Every employee at Avantus is an owner, sharing in our collective success and driven by a shared purpose to combat climate change. This culture of ownership and collaboration empowers us to take initiative, drive change, and support one another in our mission. Backed by leading global investment firms KKR and EIG, we are well-positioned to continue our rapid growth and execute on our extensive project pipeline, making a tangible and lasting impact on the transition to a sustainable energy future.
