Position Overview
As an experienced cloud reliability professional in the Autodesk Trust division, you will apply your diverse technology skills to guide resilience practices in a rapidly evolving landscape. Drawing on your extensive experience in cloud reliability and information technology domains such as system availability, disaster recovery and backup, systems architecture, software architecture, cloud systems and network engineering, you'll establish or enable foundational standards, design patterns, and reference architectures. Your primary goal will be to help Autodesk to understand and implement resiliency requirements at business scale.

Operating across all divisions of Autodesk, you'll ensure a comprehensive approach to resilience strategy. Your work informs needs for the entire lifecycle of Autodesk products and services, encompassing creation, design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing operation. In your role, you will not only apply your existing expertise but also further develop and refine your skills within the context of Autodesk's large-scale operations.

Your role as a cloud reliability architect does not have managerial responsibility. However, you will be comfortable as a technical leader; actively seeking, influencing, forming, and leading development of requirements across all Autodesk with numerous stakeholder types.

Autodesk embraces a hybrid-work policy, and you will work remotely from your home office with a team of Architects, reporting to the Director of Trust Architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate to design and develop new resiliency standards, reference designs, templates, and other architecture artifacts that ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of systems and services

  • Offer consultation to assist product and service partners in designing resilience requirements and best practices into their systems

  • Conduct gap analysis to assess resilience need versus actual implementations in products, environments, and business systems

  • Establish and maintain consistent communication channels with partners within and outside of Autodesk Trust to identify and act on resilience opportunities

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to identify solutions that address gaps or enhance resilience capabilities

  • Apply risk calculations to facilitate and inform strategic decision-making processes

  • Use systems design and thinking principles to translate and enable resilience at scale, ensuring consistency across Autodesk

  • Provide mentorship and promote awareness through professional excellence and direct engagement

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years in resilience focused, systems engineering, devops/SRE, or architecture roles

  • Significant hands-on experience with at least 7/11 of the following:

  • Public cloud IaaS and PaaS engineering/architecture

  • System engineering or architecture

  • Site Reliability Engineering or architecture

  • Disaster Recovery Engineering or architecture

  • Business Continuity Engineering or architecture

  • Cloud network engineering or architecture

  • Application engineering or architecture

  • DevOps including serverless and container/orchestration engineering and architecture

  • Standards and reference architecture creation

  • Familiarity with systems design and architectural constructs such as TOGAF and COBIT

  • Risk or Compliance assessment
