Head of Software Engineering, Asset Management – Spain

Aspire Software, part of the Valsoft Corp, is on the lookout for an up-and-coming Head of Engineering ready to step into a pivotal leadership role within our asset management sector. What you’ll achieve:

• You'll be responsible for two engineering teams across two unique companies focusing on growing the engineering organizations towards high velocity, sustainability, and quality
• Develop and mentor software developers and QA employees in your organisation and build out the teams to achieve the product and company objectives
• Partner with Product Management leads to create a vision and strategy for your area and plan for deprecation of legacy infrastructure through new web frameworks
• Lead your teams with clear strategic direction and operating conditions, and coach the next generation of technical leaders in the portfolio
• Contribute to the parent portfolio and organisation-wide initiatives as a part of the engineering leadership team
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, trends, methods, and procedures that can improve the company's product offerings and operations
• Be an active participant in the team that integrates new companies into our Asset Management portfolio
• Collaborate closely with Technology Leadership to align with company-wide goals, portfolio-wide technology initiatives, and uphold our technology standards
• Keep a keen eye on the competitive landscape, ensuring Aspire's technological edge

• You have successfully managed software developers with a wide range of experiences
• Your expertise includes formulating product strategies in unison with cross-functional team leads
• You are an empathetic leader with a track record of developing your team while delivering business results
• Decision-making is in your forte, whether it's driven by complex data, user insights, or product instincts
• You are an excellent partner for functions ranging across the company
• You communicate well with people of different backgrounds, can manage expectations, and influence other teams' behaviours
• You can scale an organization, clearly defining responsibilities while planning for people and team growth
• You can demonstrate proficiency with Agile methodologies and a track record of implementing these principles to drive productivity and quality improvements
• Hands-on experience with project and issue tracking tools such as JIRA, enabling clear communication and efficient project management across distributed teams
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitLab or Jenkins to ensure seamless, automated workflows from development to deployment
• Practical knowledge of version control systems, notably Git, to manage codebases across multiple development streams
• Demonstrable experience in the development of cloud-based solutions and cloud migrations, in particular AWS and Azure
• Experience in overseeing the adoption and operation of modern development frameworks and technologies to stay at the forefront of innovation
• Demonstrable experience in implementing and using AI tools (such as CoPilot) to improve delivery speed and quality
• Experience with .NET environments and codebases would be highly beneficial

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3+ years of proven experience as an engineering manager or senior team leader responsible for direct line management of software engineers
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, software engineering and architecture, including full-stack development
• Mandatory domain knowledge in SaaS product development and methodologies
• Excellent levels of both written and spoken English and Spanish
• Legally authorized to work in Spain
