About the role

  • Design and evolve high-performance, scalable software architectures that act as a force multiplier for engineering teams.

  • Lead the breakdown and delivery of large, complex technical initiatives into clear, achievable milestones.

  • Provide deep technical leadership across system architecture, raising the overall technical bar of the team.

  • Act as a go-to technical authority across multiple codebases, languages, and domains.

  • Own the delivery of major projects end-to-end, driving progress, unblocking teams, and ensuring meaningful outcomes.

  • Establish and improve engineering and organisational processes to solve recurring delivery and collaboration challenges.

  • Support and develop engineers through coaching, performance management, and targeted growth plans.

  • Model and promote clear communication, alignment, and effective cross-team collaboration.

About You

  • You build performant, evolutionary architectures grounded in best practices.

  • You have strong system-level technical understanding and enjoy helping others deepen theirs.

  • You are highly proficient across multiple languages and codebases, including strong experience with Haskell.

  • You write high-quality, well-tested code and use appropriate testing strategies (unit, property-based, integration).

  • You balance pragmatism with quality, acting decisively without over-optimising for perfection.

  • You inspire and retain teams, creating an environment where people are challenged and supported to grow.

  • You think deeply about organisational dynamics and proactively improve processes and team health.

  • You communicate complex ideas clearly and build alignment across teams and stakeholders.

We especially want to hear from you if you have

  • Collaborative skills with an emphasis on product quality.

  • Experience in insurtech, insurance or related industries.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in a distributed work environment.
