Amex GBT is one of the leading global corporate travel management businesses. The GBT Tax comprises a team of c.15 tax professionals, currently located in the UK and North America, whose responsibility is to manage GBT’s global tax affairs, comprising tax compliance, planning and advice to the business.

What you’ll be doing:

An opportunity has arisen to join GBT group in this new role of VAT Manager (working alongside the VAT Director) at this exciting time as the business continues to grow and navigates the evolving VAT landscape. This could be an ideal opportunity for someone looking to make their first move into industry or for an individual already in industry seeking to take on an expanded role. The VAT Manager will be based in the UK as part of the Group Tax team and this role offers the successful candidate the chance to be part of and contribute to an ambitious, dynamic and influential corporate function. This will involve dealing with internal and external stakeholder queries, managing VAT audits, liaising with external advisors and providing support to the VAT Accounting & Reporting Centre of Excellence team.

What we’re looking for:

• CTA qualification (indirect stream) and/or a minimum of 3-4 years’ relevant VAT experience, having either worked in practice and/or in-house
• an understanding of cross-border supplies of services - previous experience advising on international services and determining nature of services and place of supply
• experience of preparing and reviewing VAT returns
• experience of managing process improvement and documenting processes is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• ability to work within a team whilst engaging your own initiative
• ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders
• ambitious to succeed and strong drive to push tasks through to completion
• maintaining up-to-date knowledge of indirect tax developments and highlighting any relevant changes
• good organizational skills and able to work to tight deadlines
