Senior Software Engineer, Guest & Host

The Community You Will Join:
Listing data is some of the most critical data that Airbnb manages on behalf of our Hosts, and is fundamental to the Guest and Host experience. The Listings Backend team’s mission is to provide efficient and reliable online storage and retrieval of Stays/Experiences listings data. Join the team, you can adopt the high quality tech stack to support rapid business growth.

The Difference You Will Make:
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Listing Backend team, you will work on the most critical and fundamental data projects that will support fast product iteration in multiple areas. You will also work closely with PM, Designer, Data and Engineers across global teams to build products for Airbnb hosts and iteration the platform. Also as a senior team member, you are expected to set and hold a high bar and best practices for the team in both architecture and code quality.

A Typical Day:

• Architect and implement complex projects, focusing on data-driven decision making and performance optimizations. Help create the roadmap for the projects
• Work with cross functional partners to understand product requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code to implement the features
• Help define and improve coding standards, development processes and best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning

Your Expertise:

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast paced tech environment.
• Experience working with one or more backend server languages (Java, Kotlin preferred), and expertise in relational databases and caching
• Strong coding abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications
• Data driven in how you solve problems and validate you’ve solved them correctly.
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Fluent in both Chinese and English. Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within engineering organization and cross functions.

Your Location
This position is working remotely within China Mainland. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Your recruiter will inform you what cities you are able to work from depending on your personal legal working identity and Airbnb internal policies.
