  • Define disaster recovery and business continuity architecture, including RTO/RPO targets and validation strategies.
  • Guide multi-region and multi-environment deployment strategies.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide guidance on complex or high-impact infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to align DevOps capabilities with product and business priorities.

Observability & Operational Excellence

  • Define and own the observability strategy, including standards for metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, APM, and Real User Monitoring (RUM) across all platforms.
  • Design alerting and incident signal strategies aligned to SLOs and business impact, ensuring high-quality, actionable alerts with minimal noise.
  • Lead selection and standardization of observability tooling (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Datadog, New Relic), driving consistency and visibility across teams.

Platform Standardization & Leadership

  • Drive standardization and reduction of tool and pattern fragmentation across teams.
  • Mentor engineers and senior engineers, providing technical leadership and architectural guidance.

AI & Future Platform Strategy

  • Define the organization’s AI approach within DevOps, including tool selection, governance, and adoption strategy.
  • Establish patterns for integrating AI into DevOps workflows (e.g., pipeline optimization, anomaly detection, automated remediation).
  • Define standards for secure and compliant use of AI tools across engineering teams.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and incorporate them into the platform roadmap where they provide measurable value.

The journey of AgencyBloc began not in a boardroom, but from a real-world challenge faced by a large general agency in Iowa. In the mid-2000s, co-founders Adam Lewis and Cory Schmidt were running a web design and strategy company when they were tasked with creating a custom software solution for this agency. The goal was to develop a system that could efficiently manage clients, policies, and downstream agencies, and, most critically, simplify the complex and time-consuming process of tracking and processing commissions. Through this hands-on project, a significant gap in the market became apparent: there was a distinct lack of user-friendly, industry-specific management software for life and health insurance agencies. This realization was the seed from which AgencyBloc would grow. In 2008, the brand 'AgencyBloc' was officially born, and the first iteration of their specialized CRM and commissions processing system was launched, marking a new chapter for insurance agency management.

From its bootstrapped beginnings in the 'Silicon Prairie' of Iowa, AgencyBloc has been on a remarkable growth trajectory, guided by a philosophy of continuous improvement driven by client feedback. By 2017, the company was already serving over 1,000 insurance agencies across the United States. A pivotal moment came in 2021 with a strategic investment from Resurgens Technology Partners, a software-focused private equity firm. This partnership infused AgencyBloc with the resources to accelerate its product development and market expansion, leading to the acquisition of companies like FormFire and the launch of their comprehensive 'Plus Suite'. Today, AgencyBloc stands as the #1 recommended insurance industry growth platform, serving over 6,500 customers. Under the leadership of CEO Tim Robinson, the company continues to innovate, offering a robust suite of solutions that empower insurance professionals to streamline operations, enhance client relationships, and drive sustainable growth in an ever-evolving industry.
