WHO WE ARE:

ActBlue is a nonprofit that builds tech and infrastructure for Democratic campaigns, progressive-aligned causes, and people trying to make an impact in order to fuel long-term, people-powered change. If you’ve ever given online to a Democrat or progressive organization, chances are you’ve used our powerful online fundraising platform.

We put power in the hands of small-dollar donors and help thousands of groups — from presidential candidates to environmental organizations — build grassroots movements. We envision a democracy where everyone looking to make progressive people-powered change can easily and effectively deploy their resources, energy, and creativity to shape our country and futures. Each and every one of us, from the political activists to the tech innovators to the customer service pros, is fully committed to our mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Product Operations Manager, you will play a vital role in facilitating the operational aspects that underpin the product team's strategic direction and roadmap execution. You will work closely with various teams to streamline processes, communication channels, and develop and manage programs that enable our product strategy.

This role specifically supports ActBlue’s Beta Operations. In this role, you will be an important part of a mission-critical program to gather user insights into ActBlue’s products and features in development. You will be responsible for developing and evolving the processes, communications, and tools to support closing the customer feedback loop, and for managing the day-to-day operations of the beta program.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Support the development of beta program strategy: understand internal needs for user insights and testing, define beta cohorts, create beta test plans, and coordinate with product management, engineering, and UX team members to prioritize beta activities, build systems to support beta testing and collect user feedback, develop beta testing procedures, manage beta releases and A/B tests, and inform the overall product release process.
  • Recruit and manage beta testers, UX research, and advisory board participants: identify, recruit, and onboard ideal participants; draft, edit and send program communication; manage participant incentives; manage and escalate issues encountered by participants; and coordinate product specialists, UX researchers and product managers to create and ensure timely distribution of recruitment materials, release notes, testing guides, surveys, and other research and beta program materials.
  • Coordinate triage of field issues via internal tools to ensure timely escalation of feedback.
  • Work with UX Research and Product Management to define and analyze participant metrics and feedback and communicate these insights via meaningful beta reports, program status, and recommendations.
  • Apply beta and A/B testing best practices, monitor engagement rates, and iterate/improve with each new beta cycle to increase efficiency and program engagement, ensuring we get timely and actionable insights from our beta users, and that they have the best test experience possible.
  • Support a strong product culture around testing and learning in order to iterate quickly, mitigate risk, and get to the right product.
  • Recommend meaningful program KPIs and evaluate the effectiveness of your initiatives through data analysis. Facilitate strategic technology and process investments to improve those KPIs over time.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • You have strong project management skills, having coordinated complex projects with geographically distributed, cross-functional teams, and you’re excited about solving complicated logistical challenges.
  • You have excellent customer-facing communication and facilitation skills, and build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with both internal and external partners.
  • You have experience working with a CRM such as Hubspot or Salesforce and email tools to support managing user/customer contacts and populations.
  • As a strong writer and compelling presenter, you know when to adjust your focus, vocabulary, and level of detail according to the audience and goals of the communication, whether it’s a beta recruitment email or a presentation on program metrics.
  • You constantly tie your work to the strategic context and the problems we’re trying to solve to maintain focus and ensure your work is aligned with the broader mission.
  • You’re outcome-oriented and see conflict as something to be explored and resolved rather than avoided. You’re comfortable pushing outside your comfort zone and having hard conversations to get to a better result.
  • You lead with curiosity and are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment – you don’t just welcome, but center and amplify, backgrounds and points of view that differ from yours.
  • You have a foundational understanding of software processes and tools of the trade based on your previous experience, but you aren’t afraid to dive in to expand your understanding, whether it’s technical architecture, obscure campaign finance regulations, or political jargon – and you’re comfortable asking questions to fill in gaps in your knowledge.
  • You care about progressive causes and politics and want to spend your time making a meaningful impact by doing what you do best.
