We are the American Automobile Association (AAA), a federation of motor clubs with a rich history spanning over a century. Founded on March 4, 1902, in Chicago, Illinois, by nine pioneering motor clubs, our organization was born out of a need for better roads and highways suitable for the burgeoning number of automobiles. With an initial membership of just 1,500, we embarked on a mission to advocate for motorists and enhance the motoring experience. Today, we proudly serve over 65 million members across the United States and Canada, a testament to our enduring commitment and the trust placed in us.

Our core purpose has always been to provide unwavering support and valuable services to our members. While we are widely recognized for our reliable roadside assistance, which we first introduced in 1915, our offerings extend far beyond that. We've evolved into one of the largest travel organizations in North America, providing comprehensive domestic and foreign travel services through our extensive network of travel agencies, our website AAA.com, and the AAA Mobile app. We also offer a diverse range of insurance and financial products and services, tailored to meet the evolving needs of our members. Our dedication to safety is paramount, evident in our long-standing initiatives like the School Safety Patrol Program, established in 1920, and the development of driver education curricula since 1935. We continuously strive to be a leader and advocate for safe mobility, championing better driving conditions and investing in programs that promote traffic safety for all.
