As the Manager, Benefits & Operations you will be focused on ensuring our benefits programs & processes are scalable from a global perspective. You will work closely with the broader benefits team, and your counterparts in Payroll, HRIS to ensure that our integrations and systems are setup
You will lead the design, strategic vision and execution of our benefit programs in Canada and also manage company-wide benefits related projects.
This role reports to the Director, Compensation & Benefits.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Canadian benefits administration, and at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Operational expertise, proven track record of process improvement, documentation and systems integrations
  • Innovation and thinking with a digital mindset
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with google-suite (sheets, slides)
  • Proven ability to manage projects effectively, from planning to execution
  • Experience in vendor relationship management, leave of absence administration and administering retirement plans (401K, RRSP)
  • Collaboration with other teams – HRIS, Payroll, HRBPs, Finance, Legal, etc.
  • Strong experience with HRIS and benefit administration systems
  • Solid experience with setting up and troubleshooting EDI solutions/processes
  • Strong knowledge of global benefits regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced scaling company

What you can expect:

  • Benefit Administration:
  • Lead the design and strategic vision of Canadian Benefits
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local regulations
  • Manage the administration and processes related to employee leave of absence, globally preferred.

  • File Integration, Data Integrity and Audits:
  • Oversee the integration of benefits data across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security
  • Collaborate with HRIS, payroll and other stakeholders to identify system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize data flow and accessibility.
  • Oversee regular data audits to ensure benefit data integrity. Identify and implement controls and validation measures to ensuring data integrity

  • Data Analysis & Process Improvement:
  • Map out all current benefits related processes, identify gaps, and implement process innovation through the efficient use of systems and tools always with a digital mindset
  • Generate regular reports and insights to senior management, highlighting key metrics and recommending actionable strategies for process improvement

  • Project Management (ad hoc company wide benefits projects)
  • Lead and coordinate various benefits-related projects, such as leave of absence review, operational set up for Canadian open enrollment, vendor, plan and/or system implementations, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and quality standards
  • Develop project plans, establish milestones, allocate resources, and monitor progress to achieve project objectives effectively

  • Vendor and Stakeholder Relationship Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, such as insurance carriers, benefit providers, and third-party administrators
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure effective service delivery, resolve issues promptly, and optimize the value of benefits offerings
  • Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and monitor contract terms and performance agreements as needed
  • Develop strong partnerships through ongoing and timely collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Payroll, Employee Care team, Employee Relations, HRBP’s, IT, Finance, Legal and other business leaders

  • Team Leadership:
  • Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training to the benefits team to ensure high performance for benefits operations
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • Experience working with UKG Benefits Prime
  • Experience with Canadian payroll
USA-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $123,000 USD and $167,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $108,000 CAD and $146,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
