William Turney

I'm a junior software developer focused on building practical, user-facing applications with React, TypeScript, JavaScript and Node.js.

My strongest project is a full-stack Deforestation Tracker that combines an interactive React/Leaflet interface with REST APIs, PostgreSQL/PostGIS and external forest-loss data. I've also built projects including a Species Tracker, Vegan Recipe App, Wordle Clone and Distributor Directory, giving me experience across responsive UI development, API integration, databases, authentication, testing and data validation.

I enjoy working across the development process, from designing interfaces and application logic to debugging, refactoring and documenting technical decisions. My wider toolkit includes Express, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQLite, Git/GitHub, Vite, ESLint and Docker.

Before moving into software development, I worked in quality, research and laboratory operations, including leading and training teams in a high-throughput ISO 15189-accredited laboratory. That experience gave me a systematic approach to problem-solving, attention to detail and clear technical communication.

I'm now looking for a junior development role where I can contribute to real products, learn from experienced engineers and continue developing as a software engineer.
