GATE and ELA/social studies teacher delivering rigorous, theme-based instruction that builds critical thinkers.
What I'm looking for
I’m a GATE teacher with years of experience designing rigorous, standards-aligned learning for gifted students. For the past 4 years, I taught only ELA and social studies to 6th grade students, using language arts and social studies instruction tailored to gifted learners.
I build strong literacy and thinking skills through an integrated, theme-based language arts program that supports comprehension, vocabulary, writing, word skills, and grammar. I teach critical thinking across subjects using GATE depth and complexity icons, and I implement Common Core learning strategies in all areas of academics.
I bring training and collaboration into my classroom by completing GLAD and Thinking Map training and attending UC Irvine GATE conferences. I also support 1:1 learning with iPads and computers, organize field trips (including California Science Museum and Disneyland), and use co-teaching models to supervise and support student teachers.
My background includes substitute teaching, intervention work for reading fluency/comprehension and math intervention, and library media support with inventory, cataloging, and the Reading Counts program. I hold a Single Subject Credential in English, a GATE certificate, a Masters of Education (Curriculum and Instruction), and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD.
