At INESC TEC, I research shop-floor digitalization and IT/OT integration, exploring Industry 4.0 technologies and programming Beckhoff and Omron systems.
For the ongoing INNOQUA European Project, I’m implementing an automated water-tank control system. I’ve selected automation hardware, integrated sensors and actuators, and programmed a Siemens S7-1200 PLC with a custom HMI.
During my Automation Engineering Internship at INESC TEC, I developed an industrial automation system for my capstone project, programming a Siemens S7-1500 PLC and designing a Siemens HMI. I also developed a shop-floor protocol for production orders and OEE tracking, and set up real-time data collection using MQTT and OPC UA.
My master’s dissertation explores IT/OT integration architectures and Industry 4.0 technologies for manufacturing. I also submitted a research paper on industrial integration architectures to FAIM 2026, where it’s under review.
