Thomas Liquorice

Handled hundreds of tonnes of liquid hazardous waste onsite, ensuring safe neutralisation and processing of corrosive bulk chemicals. Developed and commissioned an acid neutralisation plant and operated Mercury and Radioactive Working Areas using permits, JHAs, SDS/COSHH, and data logging.

Performed daily sampling, quantitative and qualitative testing, and processing of materials from 10 kg buckets to 20,000 kg+ containers, logging results in MS Office and LIMS. Tested for properties including pH, moisture, XRF and flash/Raman/self-heating behaviours, supporting work with dangerous goods including NORM and DSRS.

Managed a multi-million dollar site to ensure safe, efficient operations and maximised productivity. Maintained schedules, staff and stock, and performed hands-on chemical compounding, compounding formulation and decanting at 10,000 L and 20,000 L scale with strong dangerous-goods and safety knowledge.

Managed internal and external NPD projects from initial brief through production, coordinating 25+ clients and 100+ projects with approximately £2 million turnover at once. Oversaw scheduling and delivery coordination across teams, and improved client onboarding so previously difficult clients became organised and easier to run.

Developed, tested and progressed new electronic material technologies by balancing physical and performance properties such as viscosity, surface tension, solids content, stability, cure and printability. Used the Malvern Mastersizer 3000 to mill samples and perform particle size analysis.

Completed a 2:1 Masters in Chemistry with Honours via a 4-year integrated program at the University of Southampton. Developed strong capability across major analytical techniques including mass spec, NMR, XRD, XRF, and ICP-AES.
