Sergio Muwowo

I’m a Consultant Pathologist with an evolving research portfolio spanning clinical pathology, parasitology, pharmacovigilance, and public health implementation—especially in neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and zoonoses. I bring both applied field experience and bench-to-field translational work, including histopathology of HIV-related conditions and toxicological evaluation of traditional therapies.

I’ve led community-based interventions such as mass drug administration programs and outbreak response operations, with a track record in adverse event monitoring and field data collection. As a former District Director of Health in an NTD-endemic region, I coordinated multisectoral health research and response teams under difficult logistical conditions.

My current clinical and academic focus includes neuropathology training alongside my ongoing roles as a consultant and department leader. I supervise postgraduate students and support protocol design and analysis using SPSS and STATA, helping translate research into practice for nationally relevant disease surveillance and One Health approaches.

I’m committed to strengthening pathology and laboratory systems through teaching, mentorship, and consultancy contributions—such as developing HPCZ and Ministry of Health clinical guidance. I aim to keep building safer, stronger health systems by aligning rigorous pathology with public health impact and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
