Ownership, meaningful problems to solve

Nikola Vranjic
@nikolavranjic
I take ownership of complex engineering challenges, connect disciplines, make sound technical decisions and deliver practical, validated solutions.
What I'm looking for
At thermIT consulting, I lead thermal engineering engagements from problem definition through cooling architecture, simulation, design reviews, and validation. My work includes thermal models for X-Therma’s subzero preservation systems and a Modelica model assessing PCM energy savings in a commercial HVAC project.
At Lilium, I owned thermal integration for the Propulsion Vectoring System and developed its passive air-cooling architecture and CFD/CHT model. At Rimac Automobili, I built and led the thermal simulation team from 2 to 10 engineers; earlier at General Electric (legacy Alstom), I was a lead inventor of patented gas turbine cooling technology and a second inventor of another patented cooling technology.

Founder & Technical Lead
thermIT Consulting
Jan 2022 - Present (4 years 10 months)
Lead an independent thermal engineering consultancy, owning client engagements from problem definition through cooling architecture, numerical simulation, specialist coordination, design reviews and validation.
Owned thermal integration of the Propulsion Vectoring System (PVS), encompassing the electric motor, inverter, gearbox, position sensors and aluminium/CFRP structure. Defined the passive air cooling architecture and developed the complete assembly CFD/CHT model.
Thermal Team Lead
Rimac Automobili
Jan 2018 - Dec 2021 (3 years 11 months)
Led thermal engineering for high-performance EV powertrain and vehicle development, including Rimac Nevera and customer programmes involving Porsche, Hyundai and Koenigsegg. Built and led the thermal simulation team from 2 to 10 engineers.
Gas Turbine Combustor Cooling Engineer
General Electric
Jan 2014 - Dec 2018 (4 years 11 months)
Developed advanced cooling architectures and aerodynamic solutions for industrial gas turbine hot gas path components, combining high-temperature thermal engineering, numerical simulation, component development and experimental validation.
