I'm a Python software engineer with 5+ years of professional experience, plus several years of freelance development and client work dating back to 2018.
I currently work at Saphetor, developing backend systems for a genomics and clinical data platform. My core stack includes Python, Django, Django REST Framework, SQL/MariaDB, Redis, Docker, Linux, pytest and Git/GitLab, with recent work involving Prefect and cloud-based processing environments.
My role has evolved from implementing individual features to owning larger technical problems end-to-end. I work across API and database design, data modelling, performance optimisation, automated testing, refactoring and data-processing pipelines. I'm particularly comfortable with complex, data-intensive systems where correctness and reliability matter.
Recently, I took significant ownership of a new product feature: designing its architecture, translating requirements into technical work, implementing the backend, coordinating the frontend implementation, and extending an existing NGS analysis pipeline. This required me to become productive in an unfamiliar codebase and learn Prefect from scratch while delivering the wider project.
Alongside my primary role, I've delivered production solutions for clients using PHP and WordPress since 2018, including custom plugins, API integrations, workflow automation and third-party services. This experience has made me comfortable thinking beyond a specific language or framework and designing solutions around the underlying problem.
My strengths are technical ownership, reliability and learning quickly. I'm comfortable taking an ambiguous problem, investigating unfamiliar systems, designing an approach and carrying it through to delivery with minimal supervision.
