Nicholas McGuire

I’m a Cloud Engineer with a strong focus on AWS, cloud security, infrastructure automation, and solving complex technical problems. Much of my experience has been working in multi-account AWS environments, where I’ve helped build and improve security capabilities using services like Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, IAM, CloudTrail, and S3.

A large part of what I enjoy about cloud engineering is automation. I’ve worked extensively with AWS CDK and TypeScript to build infrastructure as code, automate security configurations, and develop solutions that can detect and remediate security findings across multiple AWS accounts. I’ve also worked on projects involving centralized security monitoring, event-driven automation, cross-account access, and organization-wide deployment of AWS services.

I’m AWS Certified in Security – Specialty, and security continues to be one of my strongest areas of interest. At the same time, I don’t want to limit myself strictly to security engineering. I enjoy understanding how systems work from end to end and am continuing to expand my experience with SRE practices, Kubernetes, application development, observability, and reliability engineering.

What I enjoy most is being given a problem that doesn’t have an obvious answer, digging into it, and finding a practical solution. I’m naturally curious, enjoy learning new technologies, and like working with teams where people share knowledge and are open to improving the way things are done.

I’m especially interested in remote opportunities where I can continue working with AWS and automation while growing into broader cloud, platform, SRE, or DevOps responsibilities.
