Nefi Veliz

I am a native Latin American Spanish translator from Ecuador with a Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Translation and Interpreting from Macquarie University, Australia.

My training includes English–Spanish translation, localization, revision, proofreading, terminology research, quality assurance and subtitling. I am particularly interested in creative localization and transcreation for marketing, tourism, beauty, lifestyle and audiovisual content, with a focus on producing natural Spanish that preserves the tone, intent and personality of the original.

During my practical experience with CCAMLR, I proofread and revised English–Spanish translations for accuracy, consistency and terminology, supported translation tasks, and contributed to an internal Spanish style guide. My professional background in international tourism and hospitality has also given me extensive experience communicating with English- and Spanish-speaking audiences.

I am currently building my freelance translation and localization career and am particularly interested in remote opportunities involving English-to-Spanish (Latin America) localization, transcreation, subtitling and linguistic QA.
