Micah Welsch
@micahwelsch
Computational chemist specializing in molecular simulation and adsorption.
What I'm looking for
I am a computational chemist with a Ph.D. focused on molecular simulation of gas adsorption in microporous materials and amorphous polymers. My research combines Monte Carlo and molecular-dynamics techniques to calculate thermodynamics, kinetics, and structural properties of adsorbed gases.
I have authored and co-authored peer-reviewed work and manuscripts in revision, and I have presented my research at APS, AIChE, ACTC, and departmental symposia. I design and optimize simulation studies, develop analysis scripts, and run serial, parallel CPU, and GPU-optimized computations.
My technical toolkit includes Python, C++, Fortran, LAMMPS, CASSANDRA, RASPA, Towhee, GOMC, Brick-CFCMC, Packmol, Moltemplate, VMD, and Ovito, alongside expertise in building chemical systems and calculating phase equilibria. I also have teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant across general, honors, and physical chemistry courses.
I bring attention to detail, strong communication, project management, and mentorship skills, and I am motivated to apply simulation methods to solve challenging problems in materials and separation science.
