MELIS DEMARINIS
@melisdemarinis
Molecular bioengineering graduate focused on precise lab work and qPCR/RNAi to answer neurobiology and epigenetics questions.
What I'm looking for
I’m a highly motivated and graduated student of Molecular Bioengineering, with hands-on experience across multiple laboratories. My laboratory work helped me distill a set of practical skills for efficient and accurate experimentation in different experimental contexts.
In my PREP BIOTEC role at TU Dresden, I used laboratory techniques including qPCR, RNAi, cell culture, MINI-/MIDI_PREP, and DNA extraction to investigate neurobiology and epigenetic regulations in C. elegans. I also strengthened my ability to quickly adapt to new laboratory contexts and to communicate results with meticulous qPCR practices.
I developed further research depth through internships at the University of Regensburg, supporting an optogenetics project in D. melanogaster and assisting with antibody-based workflows. I also supervised ERASMUS undergraduates in laboratory techniques, reinforcing careful, reliable execution and clear communication.
My research experience extends to protein and behavioral mechanisms, including work on dFoxP and assays such as fluorescence spectroscopy/UV-VIS spectroscopy and a protein aggregation assay. Through my thesis and group project work, I gained strong fundamentals in data analysis and experimental planning for biology-focused research.
