Maya Gonzalez
@mayagonzalez
Entry-level sports therapist and coach focused on athlete recovery and growth.
What I'm looking for
I’m a former Division 1 collegiate athlete with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology/Health and Exercise Science from the University Hawai’i at Mānoa. I bring the same mindset I used on the field—teamwork, leadership, communication, adaptability, and attention to detail—into every athlete and patient interaction.
As a Head Coach at Aquinas High School, I directed the varsity girls’ soccer program, planned practices for technical and tactical development, and mentored student-athletes in leadership and sportsmanship. I also supported player development as a volunteer coach and youth mentor, focusing on confidence, accountability, and a positive, inclusive environment.
In parallel, I’ve grown into hands-on sports therapy through my Body Fix internship and as a Massage Sports Therapist at Recovery Lab, where I perform musculoskeletal assessments, design personalized recovery and treatment plans, and educate clients on injury prevention, biomechanics, and return-to-play safety. I also supported cohesive care by collaborating with physiotherapists, chiropractors, and fitness professionals, using tools like Normatec compression, Game Ready systems, and Theragun percussion therapy, and I maintain accurate client records. Alongside this, my role as a Police Officer Trainee strengthened my records management, research, and strict confidentiality practices.
