Margherita Sofia Panzuto
@margheritasofiapanzu
Final-year PhD researcher in marine ecology, applying coding and statistical modelling to movement ecology and scientific communication.
What I'm looking for
I am a final-year PhD researcher in marine ecology with extensive experience in coding, statistical modelling, and scientific communication. My work focuses on loggerhead sea turtle movement ecology using Hidden Markov Models, movement persistence models, and stable isotope analysis.
As a PhD Researcher at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (2023–Present), I develop and apply statistical models to analyse animal movement and habitat connectivity. I process and interpret large, complex biological datasets, and I write scientific reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations in English while presenting research findings at international conferences.
Previously, I served as a Research Assistant at the University of Oviedo (2022–2023), where I conducted DNA extraction, PCR, and quantitative laboratory analyses. I investigated genetic diversity using structured analytical workflows, and I now extend that people-and-process mindset through my role as Mentorship Lead, OYSTER Programme (EuroMarine, 2025–Present), coordinating deliverables across an international team.
I bring advanced skills in R, QGIS, and Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on data annotation and quality assurance. I’m known for critical reasoning and fact-checking, and for writing and editing technical content in English with exceptional attention to detail—ideally suited for AI model training, prompt evaluation, and STEM-focused annotation projects.
