mahuwa choudhury
@mahuwachoudhury
Sociology educator and qualitative researcher, using ethnography and data analysis to uncover identity and belonging.
What I'm looking for
I’m a sociology instructor and qualitative researcher who studies how identity and belonging are reconstructed through everyday practices—especially food and foodways. My approach blends ethnographic fieldwork with narrative-focused interviews to produce grounded, academically rigorous findings.
Most recently, I taught Sociology courses and facilitated discussions, turning complex concepts into engaging learning experiences. Before that, I supported clients with mental health needs through peer moderation, handling 10+ sessions weekly while keeping empathy and accountability at the center.
Alongside teaching, I’ve built research and applied experience through collaborative projects and internships, including studying cultural infusion among Tibetan refugees, conducting CSR-focused company research, and analyzing NGO financing patterns. I’m driven to work where research informs practice and where teaching and inquiry grow together.
