Luis Gonzalez
@luisgonzalez5
Mechanical Design Engineer at Intel who drove Xeon hardware failure fixes from root-cause investigation through verified, released design changes.
What I'm looking for
At Intel, I investigated mechanical failures across Xeon server board and chassis programs, carrying each issue from documented failure mode through corrective design, verification, and released drawing and specification updates.
I authored DFMEAs and released engineering changes through Intel ePDM, while using GD&T, tolerance analysis, and structural and thermal FEA to verify design margins. Working with fabrication and assembly teams, I revised build sequences and inspection criteria based on build-technician feedback.
I also delivered a high-TDP DIMM cooling solution that cut case temperature by 20°C and slot-to-slot variation from 18°C to under 4°C, earning the Intel PHED Award in 2024. I’m looking to keep doing design-for-production work on complex robotic hardware.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Led root-cause investigation and corrective design action on mechanical failures across Xeon server board and chassis programs, carrying each issue from documented failure mode through design fix, verification and released drawing and specification updates. Authored and owned DFMEAs for board and chassis hardware, driving identified failure modes through risk assessment, corrective action and desi
Developed an architecture-level library of reusable system constructs and components for current and future server platforms, standardizing how new platform concepts are built. Ensured compatibility with 19 and 21 server standards while preserving flexibility for emerging standards such as M-SDNO, and streamlined the platform concept-creation workflow.
