At Springs Charter Schools, I work as a Certified Special Education Teacher, managing cases, participating in IEP meetings, and helping students with mild to moderate disabilities work toward their academic goals.
As a substitute with Alvord Unified School District, I supported students in special education and mainstream classes, including upper elementary, middle, and high school. I also assisted students with assignments, homework, and test preparation.
At American Heritage College Los Angeles, I developed curriculum with colleagues for adult ESL learners and taught English across reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Earlier, I taught English to K–5 students as an ESL Paraprofessional at Community Unit School District 300 and used SRA reading intervention techniques.
I also tutor students online and speak with future educators about coping with disabilities, inclusion, and laws affecting disabled citizens. Through my WordPress website, hum-ayun.com, I write about education and other subjects and have written children’s literature, poetry, and an autobiography.
