Larissa Amaral
@larissaamaral
I lead waste diversion, food recovery, and SB1383 compliance programs for businesses and communities.
What I'm looking for
At Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, I manage four San Diego County city contracts that help approximately 320 businesses meet SB1383 requirements. I lead food recovery and organic recycling programs across sectors including distributors, supermarkets, restaurants, health facilities, and school districts.
I lead a team of five Environmental Solutions Specialists, direct waste audits and zero-waste events, and keep contract financials, reporting, invoicing, and deliverables on track. As lead manager for the City of Oceanside contract, I planned and implemented food recovery programs at 150 businesses and food recovery organizations.
Earlier at Solana Center, I helped divert 2,300,000 pounds of organic waste from landfill through waste programs and education. I also led outreach reaching 32,000 San Diego County residents and 8,000 students, while managing grants, contracts, interns, volunteers, and contractors.
I'm a Certified Master Composter with a B.A. in Sustainability, and I bring experience in sustainable food systems, recycling, composting, watershed protection, conservation, and environmental education. I work fluently in English and Portuguese and am motivated by practical environmental solutions that serve businesses and communities.
