Kian Schoeman

With VEX Robotics Competition, I worked on a small team to design, build, and test competition robots across two seasons. We advanced to the State Championship in my first year competing.

In my senior year, our team won the Tennessee High School State Championship and qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship. We won a division championship there and advanced to the quarterfinals.

As a volunteer mentor with Music City Makers Robotics Program, I coached two student teams on robot design, repairs, and competition strategy. I helped students work through problems themselves by explaining technical issues in plain terms.

Through Youth With A Mission, I completed a six-month leadership and service training program and spent three months supporting local churches and schools in Mongolia. I also supported farm operations and maintained an aquaponic fish-farming system with the Native Hawaiian Farm & Aquaponics Program.
