Jennifer Hill
@jenniferhill1
Experienced Spanish educator creating joyful, proficiency-based language learning through immersive, student-centered instruction.
What I'm looking for
I’m an enthusiastic Spanish educator who creates a safe space of joy and learning, with consistency and predictability, so my youngest students can build real proficiency. I bring lessons to life through songs, activities, games, and routine—and I was a recipient of a Curriculum Grant to develop the Kindergarten Spanish curriculum.
I currently teach Kindergarten Spanish and also provide one-on-one Spanish tutoring for students across New York City, ages 12–18, from beginners to AP. I’ve taught Spanish I and II as well, co-developing curriculum for language classes and using proficiency-based learning and comprehensible input in immersive settings.
My background includes founding and leading an online language school as Founding Director & Teacher, plus roles that demanded high-level program leadership—organizing homestays, curriculum, teachers, excursions, budget, and the full student experience. At Berwick Academy, I taught Spanish to grades 5–12, developed middle school curriculum, created Upper School Spanish 4 courses, and mentored new faculty while leading student trips to Spain.
I have worked in translation as well, having translated many documents, including two novels, between English and Spanish.
I earned an MA in Spanish Language & Literature and a BA in Spanish Philology with a concentration in Education. I’m a Maine Certified Teacher for Spanish K–12 and continue building my practice through training in Responsive Classroom and FLES, while contributing through conference presentations, professional leadership in AATSP, and recognition such as being a member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
I am looking for a remote work from anywhere position, that will allow me to use my skills as I spend the next year traveling in Spain.
