Javi Loureiro

I joined as one of the members of the Designer Experience team, Automattic's version of DesignOps, with the goal to provide the best possible environment for designers to do their best work. The team is responsible for designer hiring strategy, onboarding, culture and community, growth and development, and design infrastructure (systems & processes).

As Design Director, my responsibilities were to build the proper design culture and infrastructure for the company, maintain relationships within the design community to be able to hire the best possible talent and take care of the career development of every member of our design team.

I was focused on operations and people management, and often involved in conceptualizing products.

As Chief Product Officer, my main job was to take care of the products we conceived from a strategic perspective, in all stages of the relationships with our customers, and within our team.

My understanding of the job was to assign the product its meaningful purpose and stick to it by constantly using it as a beacon throughout the process.

I worked for top banks, telcos and consumer electronics companies. The international nature of these clients required frequent traveling and excellent English communication and presentation skills.

I used every methodology and tool there is for research, analysis, definition, and prototyping . I researched trends, conceptualized digital strategies and designed for any kind of device.
