J Armstrong
@jarmstrong
People-oriented special education and instructional leader helping students and adults with disabilities build independence.
What I'm looking for
I’m a people-oriented, goal-driven professional with a diverse background in Special Education, Behavioral Instruction, and Office Operations. I focus on delivering high-quality support for students and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In my current role as a Lifelong Learning Instructor, I facilitate vocational and life skills training for adults with disabilities and use adult learning principles to build independence. Previously, as an Adaptive Behavior and Communication Teacher, I designed classroom strategies for students with complex communication needs, managed behavioral interventions, and adapted curriculum to meet learners where they are.
I also bring strong operations and customer-focused experience from positions in office-based environments. As a Customer Service Advocate, I managed multi-line phone systems, coordinated technician job assignments, processed service quotes, handled daily deposits, and supported parts ordering and general office supply management.
I combine instructional leadership with technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office tools and Google Suite, and I’m grounded in evidence-based practice through certifications such as CPI and ABA-related training. I further reinforce my commitment through community leadership—directing a day camp for 150 children and leading children’s ministry sessions for groups of 150 over 5 years.
