Jaap Bakker

I’m a senior software engineer with nearly 15 years of experience across product engineering and modern web applications. Recently, I worked on a centralized energy data portal for the Netherlands, delivering secure access to relevant energy data while aligning with product and regulatory requirements in an Agile SAFe setup.

I’ve also led and shaped frontend direction—modernizing legacy Django templates into a React-based architecture using Gatsby and static rendering, and mentoring engineers to improve delivery of practical, user-focused solutions. From early startup work (including Techstars) to building a form builder and a component-based description language powered by a custom TypeScript-based AST, I’m motivated by pragmatism, adaptability, and designing systems that teams can maintain.
