Imtiaz Hussain

I’m a Data and Research Analyst currently working on Urban Sector Planning & Management at The Urban Unit Lahore, where I help turn research into actionable policy and development initiatives.

My core strength is econometrics and evidence-based analysis: my PhD in Econometrics focuses on Microeconometrics, Macroeconometrics, Multivariate analysis, and Data Visualization. I combine rigorous methodology with practical outcomes, especially when the work involves complex socioeconomic and spatial questions.

In my current role, I analyze Punjab Socioeconomics Registry and projects-based datasets, including spatial data analysis using R, STATA, and Python. I also write reports on socioeconomic impacts of different policies, conduct poverty measurement using satellite imagery data, and support survey design and sampling for projects—while ensuring data cleaning and handling are done with care.

Earlier, I built research and analysis experience as a Research Officer at the National Institute of maritime Affairs (Bahria University) through budget tracking, budget session planning, and proposing marine-sector budgetary analysis to the Ministry of Finance. Before that, as a Research Associate with the CPEC research focus, I led questionnaire design, field survey supervision, and data management, and collaborated with policymakers and stakeholders on tourism, environmental poverty, women empowerment, and economic wellbeing. Alongside research, I’ve taught and mentored students as a Visiting Lecturer and Teaching Assistant in economics and applied econometrics (SPSS, STATA, E-VIEWS), grounded in a commitment to clear communication, strong research methods, and continual improvement through academia and publication.
