I Ahmed
@iahmed
Physician-epidemiologist at University of Maryland, Baltimore studying drug-resistant infection transmission and leading HIV surveillance.
What I'm looking for
At University of Maryland, Baltimore, I investigate how healthcare environments contribute to the persistence and transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms. My doctoral research combines environmental microbiology, genomic epidemiology, and patient-level clinical data to examine transmission pathways and infection prevention interventions.
At CIHEB/UMB, I directed surveillance work supporting Nigeria’s response to Lassa fever, monkeypox, and COVID-19, including national disease-monitoring platforms and technology transfer of the mSERS reporting platform. I also supported SORMAS deployment and technical training for public health staff.
As National Coordinator for the NAIIS project in Nigeria, I designed and led a nationwide linkage strategy for people identified as HIV-positive through population-based surveys; the model was scaled across PEPFAR-supported programs. I’m open to US-based research collaboration, remote global health and infectious disease epidemiology consulting, surveillance system design assistance, grant development, and scientific writing.
