With Violet, I designed and built an end-to-end SaaS workflow that turns handwritten Arabic tabular documents into editable Excel files. In internal testing, its OCR and AI pipeline reached 95.6% accuracy on targeted handwritten Arabic use cases.
I developed and fine-tuned a custom model for recognizing handwritten Arabic names, training it on 10,000+ images with volunteer support for data preparation and annotation. I also built a Palestinian-names reference database with fuzzy matching to address common OCR errors.
As a Volunteer — Data Entry at SYF, I digitised and processed handwritten records, seeing firsthand the time cost and error rate of manual data entry. That experience shaped Violet’s focus on practical needs of humanitarian organisations.
