Hillary Spencer
@hillaryspencer
Agricultural husbandry and wildlife conservationist coordinating One Health veterinary education and animal health logistics.
What I'm looking for
I am a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Chester where I earned my BSc. Animal Bioscience and MSc. Wildlife Conservation, respectively. Currently I am studying veterinary medicine in Latvia.
My occupational passion is the human-animal agriculture-wildlife conflict interface and One Health. I am keen to find ways to navigate conflicts to protect wildlife, agriculture and people while maintaining a comprehensive One Health approach.
I founded an educational initiative in 2025 called From Hello to Healing which focuses on developing clinical communication skills. Through this initiative I run multi-day traveling workshops supporting veterinary professionals and students with medical communication, expectation management, and balanced patient care protocols.
In Ghana with Veterinarians Without Borders North America, I helped build capacity for poultry and livestock farmers and community animal health workers—covering biosecurity, disease transmission, vaccinations, antibiotic resistance, animal welfare, food safety, and One Health.
I’ve also supported veterinary and public health response work, including case investigation and contact tracing during COVID-19, plus documentation collaboration for avian influenza outbreak reporting with government veterinarians.
Across wildlife and field settings, I’ve assisted capture and release programs, clinical examinations, treatment, GPS collaring, ear tagging, and microchipping, and I’ve contributed to disease-risk and welfare procedures through operational oversight and training manuals.
