Hibaq Dahir

Dedicated social service professional empowering youth and newcomers.
What I'm looking for
I am a passionate and dedicated social service professional with a strong background in supporting newcomers, youth, and vulnerable populations. My hands-on experience in case management, digital literacy facilitation, and community outreach has equipped me with the skills to bring a trauma-informed, client-centered, and anti-oppressive lens to all my work. Fluent in both English and Somali, I thrive in fast-paced environments where compassion, organization, and communication make a real difference.
In my recent role as a Virtual Services and Access Navigator at Catholic Crosscultural Services, I conducted initial client intakes and assessments, connecting newcomers with appropriate settlement and employment services. I delivered virtual digital literacy workshops to empower clients in using technology for daily life and maintained accurate client data in the iCare system. My experience as a Newcomer Settlement Advisor at YMCA Southwestern Ontario further honed my skills in providing one-on-one case management and facilitating access to essential resources for clients.
I am now seeking a full-time opportunity where I can continue to empower youth and newcomers to build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their goals. My commitment to promoting participant empowerment and goal setting through strength-based approaches is at the core of my professional ethos.
