Edgar Cardozo
@edgarcardozo
Senior Software Engineer with 7+ years building scalable backend systems, microservices, and cloud-native solutions.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience building scalable backend systems, distributed architectures, and cloud-native applications, primarily for financial and enterprise platforms.
My core stack includes Java (8–21), Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, RabbitMQ, Terraform, Git, and CI/CD, with additional experience in Node.js and React. Throughout my career, I have worked on systems where reliability, security, scalability, and maintainability are critical.
Currently at Globant, I design and develop microservices, APIs, AWS Lambda functions, and cloud integrations for a large-scale financial platform. I have also served as a technical lead on a bank-merger integration initiative, taking ownership of architecture decisions and implementation across multiple teams, and contributed to the migration of legacy monolithic applications toward independently deployable microservices.
One of the most interesting challenges I worked on was building a serverless authorization solution for managing permissions granted to different client roles. The solution leveraged AWS Lambda, Amazon Verified Permissions (AVP), and AWS Step Functions to separate fine-grained authorization policies from application logic and orchestrate the required workflows. This provided a more maintainable and scalable way of managing role-based permissions as the system evolved.
Previously, at Nybble Group, I built distributed services with Java, Spring Boot, SQL, Docker, and Kubernetes and led the R&D and end-to-end implementation of a new platform capability with no existing internal solution.
At GlobalLogic, I worked on critical banking systems supporting loan evaluation and credit card processing. I built microservices and event-driven integrations using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and RabbitMQ, while also taking ownership of high-severity production incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and mentoring other engineers during complex debugging situations.
Across these experiences, I have tackled challenges involving microservice architecture, monolith modernization, distributed systems, API design, authorization, event-driven communication, cloud infrastructure, production reliability, and cross-team integrations.
I enjoy taking ownership of complex technical problems, understanding unfamiliar systems, and turning business requirements into reliable and maintainable software. I’m particularly motivated by backend engineering challenges involving distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, scalability, performance, and system design.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Architected and delivered microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Batch, extending a financial platform with new APIs and AWS Lambdas. Led a bank-merger integration project and applied Spec-Driven Development to reduce integration defects.
Senior Software Engineer
Nybble Group
Mar 2022 - May 2023 (1 year 2 months)
Developed and maintained distributed backend systems using Java 11, Spring Boot, SQL, Docker, and Kubernetes. Led research and development of a new platform capability, and analyzed legacy monolithic applications to support migration planning.
Designed, developed, and maintained backend microservices for banking systems supporting loan evaluation and credit card processing. Owned high-severity incident resolution and mentored junior engineers in production debugging.
At Globant, I worked as a Semi-Senior Software Engineer focused on backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
I helped design and build a new microservices architecture from scratch, establishing scalable development patterns that were later adopted by the broader team. I also focused on software quality through unit and integration testing and SOLID principles.
