Daphne Weiss
@daphneweiss
I build rigorous data pipelines that turn messy research data into defensible results.
What I'm looking for
At the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain, and Language, I build automated tools and analysis workflows for complex longitudinal behavioral and physiological research. I maintain a relational SQL participant database supporting recruitment, scheduling, and compensation for a 300+ participant study on Prolific.
I've developed end-to-end Python and R pipelines for multimodal data, including mixed-effects and time-series models, and reduced eye-tracking analysis from hours to minutes through automated ingestion, preprocessing, visualization, and data-quality checks. I also automated pretest scoring and stimulus assignment, co-supervised an MSc student, and taught pupillometry methods to researchers from other labs.
My PhD in cognitive neuroscience complements hands-on experience in Python, R, SQL, machine learning, experimental design, and technical communication. At the University of Pennsylvania, I used MATLAB to align ECG and EEG signals for sleep-and-memory research, and I previously translated technical subjects into clear business copy across 680+ pieces.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Postdoctoral Researcher
Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language
Jun 2026 - Present (2 months)
Built internal lab tools to automate repetitive manual work, reducing reliance on paid research assistants and speeding experiment development. Maintains a relational SQL participant database for a 300+ participant longitudinal study.
Pre-Doctoral Researcher
Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language
Sep 2022 - Jun 2026 (3 years 9 months)
Developed end-to-end statistical analysis pipelines for complex multi-modal data, including mixed-effects and time-series models. Automated eye-tracking data processing, cutting analysis time from hours to minutes, and implemented data-quality checkpoints.
Wrote a MATLAB script to align physiological signals (ECG, EEG) for extracting heart-rate markers in a sleep-and-memory study, quickly learning new analytical tools and domain.
